LANSING, April 23, 2002 – Pooling your resources with other Lottery players really does pay off, as a Kent County Lottery club recently learned! The Cash Connection Lottery Club of Newaygo purchased a ticket that matched the first five numbers to win a $150,000 Big Game prize in the April 12 drawing! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were 6, 13, 14, 17, 41 and the Big Money Ball number was 6.
The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Rite Aid Discount Pharmacy #1466, 1029 4 Mile Road NW, in Grand Rapids.
The 11 members of the Cash Connection Lottery Club each received a $13,636 prize, before taxes:
Patrice Baker of Belmont
Daniel Ellis of Caledonia
Annette Gillespie of Grand Rapids
Carla Henry of Wyoming
Ada Hurst of Walker
Sally Karasig of Wyoming
Janet McGowans of Grand Rapids
Kathleen Melick of Rockford
Diane Reynhout of Grandville
Lynn Sienkiewicz of Sparta
Sally Tittler of Newaygo
"After we found out we had won $150,000, we kept our ticket locked up in our office," said club representative Sally Tittler. "Someone else had purchased the tickets for us that day, so I wasn’t aware that we had won when the numbers were drawn. I received several phone calls alerting me to the fact we had won, and then I began to call other club members to share the good news!"
Though the members of the Cash Connection Lottery Club have no specific plans for their winnings yet, the lucky State of Michigan Family Independence Agency employees encourage other Lottery players to "be persistent and keep playing!"
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight, Tuesday, April 23, with an estimated jackpot of $7 million.
