Eastpointe Man Hunts Down $250,000 Top Prize in Lottery's "Fortune Hunter" Instant Game!

LANSING, March 26, 2002 – A very lucky fortune hunter from Eastpointe certainly succeeded in his latest search, taking home a $250,000 top prize upon scratching off a Michigan Lottery "Fortune Hunter" instant ticket!

The winning ticket was purchased at Eastpointe Liquor Shoppe, 24850 Gratiot Ave., in Eastpointe.

"I was still at the store when I scratched off the ticket," the winner said. "I have a system—I scratch a couple squares on one game, then on another, then scratch the prizes off last. When I saw I had won, I could no longer feel my heart beating! I went home and told my wife to sit down, and that I had something important to tell her. We were both so shocked and excited!"

The lucky 43-year-old, who requested anonymity, said he kept the ticket in a safe deposit box before claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing. He also said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills, to donate to charity and to invest for his retirement.

"Just keep the faith!" the lucky winner encourages other Lottery players. He also joked that he is a bit "superstitious" when it comes to playing Lottery games.

"Fortune Hunter" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant games available at more than 9,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
