Robin Laferriere of Laingsburg is Bowled Over by $150,000 Prize Win in Big Game Drawing!

LANSING, April 6, 2001 – April Fool’s Day proved to be lucky for Robin Laferriere of Laingsburg when she learned she had matched the first five numbers in the March 30 drawing to win the $150,000 Big Game prize! That day’s winning numbers were: 4, 31, 38, 45, 48 and the Big Money Ball number was 9.

Laferriere, 36, purchased the winning Big Game ticket at Don’s Party Store, 5748 Round Lake Road, in Laingsburg.

“I checked the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.state.mi.us/milottery) on April Fool’s Day,” the winner said. “Everyone thought I was joking when I told them I had matched the first five numbers. I was shocked to win, but very excited!”

The winner said she has been playing the same numbers on The Big Game for the past two years, which she randomly selected when she purchased her very first Big Game ticket.

The lucky lady, who enjoys bowling and working at her computer in her spare time, said she kept the winning ticket in a “safe place” prior to turning it in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing.

Laferriere, who works as a cashier at L & L Food Center, said she has not yet decided how she will spend her winnings, but may use part of the money to buy a new house.

The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight, April 6, with an expected jackpot of $29 million.
