LANSING, February 7, 2001 — A Charlotte man is now a couple steps closer to retirement, courtesy of the Michigan Lottery! The lucky man recently scratched off a Michigan Lottery “$1,000,000 Jackpot” instant ticket to reveal he had won a $100,000 prize!
The 52-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the lucky ticket at Charlotte Xpress Mart, 324 S.. Cochran Ave., in Charlotte.
“I scratched off the ticket while waiting to pick my son up from school,” the winner said. “At first I thought I had won $1,000, but upon double-checking the ticket I realized I actually won $100,000. I was completely shocked!”
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner said he locked it in a safe. The avid fisherman and woodworker said he plans to save his winnings for retirement.
