LANSING, July 10, 2000 — The Michigan Lottery predicts its latest Daily 3 & 4 Second-Chance Sweepstakes offering — the "Big Hit" — will be a big hit with Lottery players all across the state.
The "Big Hit" is different from previous Michigan Lottery second-chance sweepstakes in that the drawings held each week during the six-week period will not only award cash prizes to winners, but will also qualify them for a final $25,000 grand-prize drawing! Each week the Lottery will award 130 qualifying prizes of $500 each to sweepstakes winners — for a total of 780 qualifying prize winners.
"We are really excited about our latest second-chance sweepstakes offering," Michigan Lottery Commissioner Don Gilmer said. "We will be giving away $65,000 a week for six weeks to lucky Lottery players throughout Michigan. Not only will each of the winners from the qualifying drawings collect a great cash prize, they will also get a one-in-780 shot at winning $25,000!"
To enter the "Big Hit" sweepstakes, players send in two non-winning Daily 3 or 4 mid-day tickets and two non-winning Daily 3 or 4 evening tickets for drawings conducted between July 17 and August 26, 2000, along with their name, address and daytime telephone number on a separate sheet of paper to: Big Hit Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 5157, Southfield, MI 48086.
Players can enter as often as they like, but entries must be limited to one per envelope. Players can also drop off entries at any of the Lottery’s six regional offices, as well as participating radio stations and newspapers.
The Lottery will give away a total of $415,000 over the course of the six-week promotion — 780 qualifying prizes of $500 each and one $25,000 grand prize.
The qualifying drawings will be held July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23 and September 6, 2000. All 780 qualifying prizewinners will then be entered into the $25,000 grand-prize drawing which will be conducted on September 8, 2000 and broadcast on the Lottery’s "Road to Riches" weekly television game show scheduled to air on September 9, 2000. The names of the winners for both the qualifying drawings and the grand-prize drawing will be posted on the Lottery’s Web site (www.state.mi.us/milottery).
