LANSING, May 22, 2000 — Horace "Larry" Jarber of Detroit could hardly contain his excitement when he discovered he was holding a winning $150,000 Big Game ticket! He matched the first five numbers in the May 9 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 2, 12, 33, 37 and the Big Money Ball number was 4.
"I couldn’t believe that I won," Jarber said. "I started jumping up and down and I called my brother right away to tell him the good news!"
When not riding his motorcycle, enjoying a horseback ride or repairing old cars, Jarber said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He added that he has been playing Lottery games for the past 10 years and he truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered. He purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at In N Out #18, 14441 W. McNichols Road, in Detroit.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the 60-year-old winner said he kept it in his wallet to ensure its safety.
The retiree from General Motors said he plans to use part of his winnings to buy a new car and get a "surprise for the grandkids!" He has not yet decided what he will do with the rest of his winnings.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
