LANSING, May 20, 2000 — Charles Rose of Toledo, Ohio was overcome with excitement upon learning he had matched the first five numbers in the May 5 Big Game drawing to win a $150,000 prize! That day’s winning numbers were: 6, 8, 16, 30, 32 and the Big Money Ball number was 26.
"I was at a neighbor’s house and remembered that I needed to check my Big Game ticket," Rose said. "My neighbor had memorized the winning numbers, so he told me what they were and I checked my ticket right then. My wife, Denise, and I were so excited to find out we won!"
When he takes a break from playing softball, the 28-year-old winner said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He added that he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 10 years and his favorites are Michigan Lotto, the Daily 3 game, the instant games, and, of course, The Big Game!
Rose, a janitor for the University of Toledo, purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Cox Beer Store, 6201 Lewis Ave., in Temperance. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, Rose said he hid it under the headboard of his bed to ensure its safety.
The lucky man said he plans to share part of his winnings with his parents and use the rest to pay bills, make investments and "have fun!"
Rose was very grateful to have won a top Michigan Lottery prize and said, "Thank you very much, Michigan Lottery!"
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide. Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
