Debbie Hinzman of Brighton To Take Vacation of Dreams Thanks to $150,000 Michigan Lottery Big Game Win!

LANSING, May 13, 2000 — Debbie Hinzman of Brighton will soon be basking in the sun on a beach in Hawaii thanks to her big win in the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game! She matched the first five numbers in the May 2 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 3, 33, 36, 42, 43 and the Big Money Ball number was 13.

"I saw the winners on WDIV-TV 4," the winner said. "I said, ‘Oh my God!’ when I saw the numbers come up on the screen! I ran out of the room as fast as I could to tell my husband we had won. I was so surprised — I still can’t believe it!"

When not sewing or working on various craft projects, the 44-year-old winner said she occasionally enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games, her favorite being The Big Game. Hinzman purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Meijer Inc. #46, 8650 W. Grand River Ave., in Brighton.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky lady kept it in a fire safe box to ensure its safety.

Hinzman, who works at JoAnn Fabrics, said she plans to use her winnings to take a trip to Hawaii, pay bills, purchase a new car and make some investments.

The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide. Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
