May 2, 2000 — Jackson Woman and Dearborn Man Split Michigan Rolldown Jackpot, Collecting $12,761 Each!

LANSING, May 2, 2000 — Michigan Lottery players continue to rake in the dough with the Lottery’s newest game, Michigan Rolldown! There were two lucky jackpot winners in the April 22 Michigan Rolldown drawing — one from Jackson and the other from Dearborn. The winning numbers for that drawing were: 7, 8, 13, 17 and 21. The total jackpot prize pool for the April 22 drawing was $25,522, before taxes, so each jackpot winner collected $12,761.

In total for the April 22 Rolldown drawing, there were 28,886 winners who shared $86,932 in prizes. In addition to the two jackpot winners, there were 115 winners who matched four numbers for a prize of $91; 3,168 winners who matched three numbers for a prize of $8; and 25,601 winners who matched two numbers for the $1 prize.

The Jackson woman said she called the Lottery’s toll-free Lottery Link number (1-800-822-8888) the day after the drawing to get the winning numbers.

"I called the Lottery’s winning number hotline at 5:30 a.m. on the day after the drawing to get the winning numbers," the winner said. "I was so excited to have won that I woke my husband up immediately to tell him!"

The 49-year-old winner from Jackson, who requested anonymity, said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for many years and her new favorite is, of course, Michigan Rolldown!

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky lady said she placed it in a china cabinet to ensure its safety.

The convenience store manager purchased the winning Michigan Rolldown "easy pick" ticket at Kellys Quik Stop, 3797 W. Michigan Ave., in Jackson. She said she plans to use her winnings to "splurge" on herself!

The other winner in the April 22 Michigan Rolldown drawing, a Dearborn man, was also excited about winning a Michigan Rolldown jackpot prize.

The 48-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, said he doesn’t have any special plans for his winnings yet. He added that he is still "thinking about it!"

The Ford Motor Company employee purchased the winning Michigan Rolldown "easy pick" ticket at Richter’s Market, 4633 S. Telegraph Road, in Dearborn Heights. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Redford Township, the winner said he kept it in his wallet to ensure its safety.

When not working on cars or listening to rock ’n’ roll music, the Dearborn man said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He added that his favorites are Michigan Lotto, The Big Game, the Daily 3 & 4 games and, of course, Michigan Rolldown!

Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held Monday, February 28, 2000. Drawings are conducted six days a week — Monday through Saturday — at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at the more than 6,400 Lottery retailers statewide.

The feature that makes Michigan Rolldown unique among other Michigan Lottery games is the "roll down" feature, ensuring that all of the prize money will be paid out each and every night. In the event that no player matches all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot, that prize money "rolls down" to players who match four of five numbers, giving them an even bigger win!

To play Michigan Rolldown, players select five numbers from a field of 33, or use the "easy pick" feature in which the computer terminal randomly picks five of 33 numbers. Odds to match all five numbers are 1 in 237,336, with overall odds to win a cash prize of 1 in 6.

Cash prizes are awarded for matching five, four, three and even two numbers. These top three prizes are pari-mutuel and, therefore, may vary from drawing to drawing. Pari-mutuel prizes are based on the number of tickets sold and the number of winners matching five, four and three numbers. The prize for matching two numbers is always $1.
