LANSING, February 29, 2000 – The Michigan Lottery conducted its first-ever "Michigan Rolldown" drawing last night and announced today that 37,393 players shared in prized totaling $119,668. There was no winning ticket that correctly matched all five winning numbers: 01, 05, 20, 23 and 31.

"The ‘roll down’ feature of this game worked exactly as it was intended," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Don Gilmer. "No one matched all five numbers to win the jackpot prize, so money from that prize pool rolled down to everyone in the ‘match 4’ prize category. That means bigger prizes for those players!"

In total for last night’s drawing, there were 112 players who will each receive $439 for matching four numbers; 3,691 players who will each receive $10 for matching three numbers; and 33,590 players who will each receive $1 for matching two numbers. Ticket sales for last night’s introductory drawing of Michigan Rolldown totaled $243,106.

"This was a great debut for Michigan Rolldown!" said Gilmer. "Because ticket sales were so much higher than we had originally anticipated, the number of cash prize winners soared too. We hope fans of the old Cash 5 game and other Lottery players statewide continue to give Michigan Rolldown a chance because there are a lot of ways to win."

Michigan Rolldown drawings will be held six days a week — Monday through Saturday — at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets will be available at the more than 6,400 Lottery retailers statewide. To play Michigan Rolldown, players will select five numbers from a field of 33, or use the "easy pick" feature in which the computer terminal randomly picks five of 33 numbers. Odds to match all five numbers are 1 in 237,336, with overall odds to win a cash prize of 1 in 6.
