LANSING, January 7, 2000 — Diane Harthorn of Clinton Township is celebrating in a big way after winning a top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game! She matched the first five numbers in the December 14 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 6, 21, 27, 38, 43 and the Big Money Ball number was 21.
"The ticket was sitting on the kitchen counter for a couple of days before I decided to take it down to the corner store to find out what the winning numbers were," Harthorn said. "The clerk scanned my ticket and told me that I needed to contact Lottery headquarters to collect my prize. I then asked him for a winning number report so I could see how many I had matched and what I had won. I was very surprised!"
The Clinton Township woman said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years and her favorites are the Michigan Lotto and The Big Game. Harthorn purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at 7-Eleven 17477, 17750 Frazho Road, in Roseville.
The lucky lady said she doesn’t have any plans for her winnings at this time. She added that she needs time to think about it, but will likely invest part of it.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets can be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight (Friday), January 7, with an expected jackpot of $7 million.
