Detroit Man Cashes In On Lottery's Cash 5 Game!

LANSING, November 18, 1999 — A Detroit man is enjoying new-found wealth after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the November 11 drawing — 23, 27, 34, 36 and 37. The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Rite Aid Discount Pharmacy #4352, 22663 Greenfield Road, in Southfield.

"I watched the Cash 5 drawing on WDIV-TV 4," the winner said. "It was hard to believe that I had matched all five numbers. I looked up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.state.mi.us/milottery) the next day to make sure that I had really won."

The winner said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 20 years, and he truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered.

"I am a regular Lottery player," he said. "It is something I really enjoy — some people like to play cards, some people like to golf — I like to play the Lottery!"

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the Detroit man kept it in his pocket at all times to ensure its safety. He said he plans to use his winnings to pay off his student loans.

The lucky man offered the following words of advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "Just keep playing — one day you will win!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
