Wyandotte Woman Celebrates With Family Upon Winning $250,000 Prize in Michigan Lottery's "Lucky 7's" Instant Game!

LANSING, October 28, 1999 — A Wyandotte woman recently discovered what it feels like to have a truly lucky day after scratching off a Michigan Lottery “Lucky 7’s” instant ticket to learn she had won one of the game’s $250,000 top prizes!

The 43-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 25 years, and she truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered.

“My entire family was at my house for dinner the night I bought the ticket, so I decided to take it home and scratch it off there,” the winner said. “My daughter scratched off the last spot on the ticket and suddenly a strange scream came out of her mouth! At first we all thought there was something wrong. She told us we had won the top prize, but none of us could believe it. We checked the ticket about eight times and then kept hugging each other and laughing!”

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven 16436, 1140 Ford Ave., in Wyandotte. The winner, a nurse’s aide, said she plans to use her winnings to purchase a new car and house.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky lady kept it on the table next to her bed to ensure its safety.

The Wyandotte woman, who enjoys knitting and working on craft projects in her free time, said she was hoping something good would happen soon.

“I have been praying that something good would happen to our family, and it really did,” the winner said.

“Lucky 7’s” is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
