Grand Rapids Couple to Begin New Year in Style After Winning Big With Michigan Lottery's "Millennium Millions" Instant Game!

LANSING, October 20, 1999 — Michelle Ball of Grand Rapids will likely be celebrating the new year in a new home thanks to the Michigan Lottery! The lucky lady was the latest winner to find a $100,000 prize in the Lottery’s "Millennium Millions" instant game!

"My husband, Jeff, purchased the ticket and scratched it off right at the store," Ball said. "He told me he was shaking when he saw what we had won, so he left the store quietly and brought the ticket home to show it to me. I didn’t believe him at first, but we called the Lottery and they verified we really had a winner! He had me turn the ticket in because he thought I would really enjoy the experience."

The 26-year-old winner said she enjoys working on Creative Memories scrapbooks, and this experience will make a great addition to her collection! Ball added that she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past one and one-half years, and her favorites are the instant games.

The winning ticket was purchased at Charlie’s Party Store, 2000 Leonard St. NW, in Grand Rapids. The homemaker said she and her husband have big plans for their winnings!

"We plan to surprise Jeff’s parents by paying back the money we borrowed from them, we’ll pay for a vacation for my parents and then buy ourselves a new house," Ball said. "This prize will also give my husband the opportunity to return to college. He was attending college on a baseball scholarship but sustained a knee injury and had to drop out. He now plans to finish his degree in investment accounting."

"Millennium Millions" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
