LANSING, October 12, 1999 — A Romulus man’s hunch about buying a winning Lottery ticket really paid off when he discovered he had won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the September 27 Cash 5 drawing — 4, 8, 26, 29 and 32. The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Saroki’s Party Store, 2055 N. Wixom Road, in Wixom.
"I don’t usually buy my tickets in Wixom, but I was helping my daughter out that day and had a hunch to buy a Lottery ticket while I was there," the winner said. "I knew the ticket was a winner as soon as I saw the winning numbers. My wife and I have both been very nervous ever since!"
The winner, who works at Ford Motor Company, said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years, and his favorites are Michigan Lotto, The Big Game and, of course, Cash 5.
The lucky man said he plans to use part of his winnings to help his children pay bills and will invest the rest. He added that he and his wife are generally "not big spenders!"
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.
Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
