LANSING, April 14, 1999 – An Eastpointe woman is now $100,000 richer after winning the top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The lucky lady, who requested anonymity, collected the game’s $100,000 top prize by matching all five numbers in the April 2 drawing – 8, 10, 14, 27 and 35. The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at A & B Market, 18405 E. 9 Mile Road, in Eastpointe.
"I got a winning number report from the store," she said. "My husband couldn’t believe it! I called the Lottery to get the numbers again so I could verify that I had a winner. I was completely shook up!"
The winner, who sings in a choir in her free time, said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past seven years, and she particularly enjoys The Big Game, Michigan Lotto and Cash 5. In fact, this is not the first time the Eastpointe woman has won the top prize in the Cash 5 game – she also won the $100,000 prize in April 1992!
Prior to collecting her prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, she kept the winning ticket in a safe-deposit box. She said she plans to invest her winnings.
The winner offered the following advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "Play Cash 5 easy pick! It doesn’t matter how much you spend – you can win with just one ticket!"
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Odds to win the $100,000 prize are one in 575,757. Tickets are available at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
