LANSING, January 23, 1998 – In just two weeks’ time, three Lottery players from Oakland County have won top prizes up to $150,000!
– Amir Kanno of Troy won $100,000 on the "$1,000,000 Gift" instant game;
– Lois Struble of Waterford won $150,000 in The Big Game; and
– an anonymous Pontiac woman won $100,000 in the Cash 5 game.
"I was on my way to work and stopped for coffee at 7-Eleven," said Kanno. "I bought two tickets, and at first I thought the winning ticket was worth just $10,000. When I told my wife the good news, she thought something was wrong at first."
Kanno, 35, has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for more than 15 years. He plans to share part of his winnings with his wife and brothers and sisters, as well as set some aside for his children’s education.
The winning "$1,000,000 Gift" instant ticket was purchased at Southland Corp. #29521 (7-Eleven), 4191 15 Mile Road, in Sterling Heights.
In Waterford, Lois Struble had a big smile after winning The Big Game’s $150,000 prize! Struble matched the first five numbers in the January 9 drawing. That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 6, 23, 31, 48, and the Big Money Ball number was 20.
"I checked the paper the very next day after the drawing and knew I’d won," said Struble. "I told a friend and my son and they were both very happy for me."
Struble plans to put part of her Big Game winnings in her savings account, share with a few special people, and invest the rest. The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Arbor Drugs Inc. #49, 5076 Highland Road, in Waterford.
The latest Oakland County winner is a Pontiac woman who matched all five numbers in the January 19 Cash 5 drawing for a prize of $100,000. That day’s winning numbers were: 13, 22, 27, 32 and 36.
The winner requested complete anonymity. The winning ticket was purchased at Ardmore Party Store, 1318 W. 9 Mile Road, in Ferndale.
Michigan Lottery instant tickets are available at more than 9,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Big Game drawings are conducted on Friday with a guaranteed starting jackpot of $5 million.
