Michigan Lottery One-Week Instant Ticket Sales Hit $15.5 Million!

LANSING, November 14, 1997 – Winter winds and falling temperatures can’t cool off the Michigan Lottery as instant ticket sales continue to heat up!

On the heels of its best fiscal year ever, the Lottery posted instant game weekly sales of $15.5 million for the week ended November 10 – shattering the previous weekly record of $14.5 million set in March of this year.

Michigan Lottery instant games have consistently been the Lottery’s fastest-growing product segment.

"I can’t think of a better way to follow up fiscal 1997," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Bill Martin.  "We’ve always strived to offer a variety of games that appeals to the tastes of every Lottery player.  With a record week like this, I think it’s safe to say we’ve done just that!"

The introduction of several new Lottery instant games is a key contributor to November’s sizzling sales.  Launched just over a week ago on November 3, "$1,000,000 Gift" is the Michigan Lottery’s first-ever instant game with an on-the-spot prize of $1,000,000! "Surprise Package" is another player favorite with a top prize of $250,000 and other prizes up to $25,000.

Michigan Lottery instant games are available at more than 9,000 retailers statewide.
