Friday the 13th Brings Luck to Michigan Lottery Players

Friday the 13thAvoiding black cats and walking under ladders is fine, but don’t let Friday the 13th keep you from playing the Michigan Lottery.

The Mega Millions game has been particularly lucky for Lottery players on Friday the 13th. Since 2009, Lottery players have won more than $95.5 million in big prizes playing the multi-state game.

Friday the 13th was especially lucky for two Lottery players who won Mega Millions jackpots on the supposedly unluckiest of days. Kendall Warren, of Kalamazoo, won a $27 million Mega Millions jackpot on Friday, May 13, 2011, and Kelsey Zachow, of Port Huron, won the game’s $66 million jackpot on Friday, June 13, 2014.

Friday the 13th Mega Millions winners since 2009 include:

  • June 13, 2014 – Kelsey Zachow, of Port Huron, $66 million
  • Dec. 13, 2013 – John Morris, of Waterford, $1 million
  • Dec. 13, 2013 – Deanna Wilson, or St. Clair Shores, $1 million

With a jackpot of $33 million for Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, this Friday the 13th could be another lucrative day for a lucky Michigan Lottery player.

Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

Michigan Lottery Players Push Club Keno to Record High

Club KenoMichigan Lottery players purchased more than $13 million in Club Keno tickets last week, an all-time high for the popular game.

Player purchases from March 3 to March 9 surpassed the previous record by more than $1 million. During that time period, players won nearly $9 million playing Club Keno.

The Doubler Days promotion that launched on March 3 contributed to strong player interest in the Club Keno game. During Doubler Days, a “Doubler” message will be printed on random Club Keno tickets. That “Doubler” message means all Club Keno and Kicker prizes won on that ticket will be doubled. If a player purchases a ticket for multiple draws and it has a “Doubler” message, all the prizes won in all drawings on that ticket are doubled.

The Doubler Days promotion comes at no additional cost to players. Tickets must be valid Club Keno winners to be eligible for double winnings. A “Doubler” message alone does not denote a win. The Jack prizes are not eligible for the Doubler Days promotion. Prizes will be doubled up to a limit of $4 million per drawing. The Doubler Days promotion runs through April 2.

One of the Lottery’s most popular games, Club Keno gives players 37 different ways to play and win. Players select up to 10 numbers to match from one to 80, with prize amounts determined based on the amount the player wagered. Club Keno may be played at Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings take place every three and a half minutes. Results and live drawings may be found online at http://www.michiganlottery.com.
