Manistee County Man Wins $500,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Cash Club Instant Game

A Manistee County man, who moved to Michigan looking for a “fresh start,” got a big boost in the right direction when he won $500,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Cash Club instant game.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Cypress Street EZ Mart, located at 313 First Street in Manistee.

“Every once in a while, I buy a $5 scratch off,” said the 26-year-old player. “I expect to win $5, maybe $10, but I never thought I’d win $500,000!”

The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new computer and then invest the remainder.

“I moved to Michigan a few years ago looking for a fresh start. Things have been going great, but this will really help me keep things going in a positive direction,” the player said.

Players have won more than $6 million playing Cash Club, which launched in August. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $27 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 top prizes and 49 $2,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2016, Lottery players won nearly $817 million playing instant games.

Detroit Woman Wins $158,276 Fantasy 5 Jackpot from the Michigan Lottery

A Detroit woman used her grandfather’s lucky numbers to win a $158,276 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the numbers drawn Oct. 30 to win the big prize: 15-17-19-21-33. She bought her winning ticket at the Kroger store, located at 28250 Dequindre Road in Warren.

“My grandpa, who passed away a few years ago, was a loyal Lottery player and he’d always write his lucky numbers down on pieces of paper,” said the player, who is a nurse. “I have a few of his number sets, and that’s what I won on.

“I was at work when I checked my ticket and saw I had won the jackpot,” said the 34-year-old player. “I couldn’t believe it, so I called my mom to have her come look at the ticket. After we confirmed I had won the jackpot, I sent her home with my ticket to keep it safe.

“It was a long night at work. I bet we called each other every 15 minutes saying: ‘Is this real? Did you check the ticket again?’”

The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and take her family on a vacation.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $156,000.

Eaton County Woman Wins $192,427 Club Keno The Jack Prize from Michigan Lottery

An Eaton County woman is celebrating after winning a $192,427 Club Keno The Jack prize from the Michigan Lottery.

Alberta Bailey, of Eaton Rapids, won $192,427 when her easy pick The Jack numbers – 01-03-05-06-27-38-46-59 – matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 1515674 on Oct. 28. She bought her winning ticket at Tony M’s, located at 3420 South Creyts Road in Lansing.

“I had two single $1 bills in my wallet so I decided I’d play Club Keno,” said the 84-year-old Bailey. “The waitress didn’t come by to take my play slip for a few minutes, so I pulled it back and added The Jack option.”

Bailey took her ticket to be scanned and after receiving a message that the machine couldn’t process her ticket, she returned to her table and asked her daughter to take a closer look.

“My daughter and I looked over the ticket thinking I’d won a little more than $600,” said Bailey. “Turns out, we were half right. I did win more than $600, but it was much, much more.”

Bailey visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay off some bills, complete some home repairs, and take a vacation.

“It’s been a lot of fun to celebrate my big win with friends and family. I’m taking it all in and enjoying every minute of it,” Bailey said.

The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as $1 per draw. With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn. Players may win prizes ranging from $1 to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.

Club Keno may be played at the 11,000 Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings take place every three and a half minutes. Results and live drawings may be found online at http://www.michiganlottery.com.

In 2016, Lottery players won about $412.5 million playing Club Keno, The KICKER, and The Jack.

A Kalamazoo County woman is looking forward to a “new beginning” after winning a $161,453 progressive jackpot playing the Michigan Lottery’s Black Jack Fast Cash game.

“It’s hard to describe the feeling of winning. The best way I can sum it up is just that this will give my family a new beginning,” said Linda Buchanan, of Kalamazoo.

She bought her winning ticket at the Town and Country Market, located at 1824 Portage Street in Kalamazoo.

“I work at the Town and Country Market and wanted to be able to help explain the new Black Jack Fast Cash game to customers, so I bought a ticket,” said Buchanan. “I don’t really play Black Jack myself, so I asked my boss to help me read the ticket. After he realized what I had, he said: ‘You just paid off your house and cars for $5!’”

Buchannan, 40, visited Lottery headquarters on Tuesday to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she indeed plans to pay off her house, cars, and then save the remainder.

Fast Cash games are a series of instant-win games that print from terminals at Lottery retailers. Fast Cash tickets range in price from $1 per play up to $10 per play, and feature popular game themes, including Cashword and Wild Time.

$4.3 Million Jackpot Winning Lotto 47 Ticket Sold in Oceana County

Lotto 47 with EZMatchA lucky Michigan Lottery player who bought a Lotto 47 ticket in Oceana County is millionaire after winning the game’s $4.3 million jackpot.

The winning ticket matched all six Lotto 47 numbers drawn Wednesday: 16-20-23-32-37-45. The winning ticket was bought at the Kwik Mart, located at 330 East Main Street in Walkerville. This is the seventh time in 2017 a player has won the Lotto 47 jackpot.

The lucky ticket holder from Wednesday’s drawing should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to make an appointment to claim the prize at the Lottery headquarters in Lansing. Lotto 47 tickets are valid for one year from the drawing date.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
