Scary Rich: $754 Million Jackpot Up for Grabs in Tonight’s Mega Millions Jackpot

If a player wins tonight’s spook-tacular jackpot, it would be the largest Mega Millions jackpot won this year, and the ninth largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won. Tonight’s drawing will be the 36th drawing since the jackpot was last won June 27 when one ticket purchased in Virginia won the $348 million jackpot.

Since the Mega Millions jackpot run began July 1, Michigan Lottery players have won more than $8.1 million in prizes.

If the jackpot is won tonight, it would be the first time in Mega Millions history that the jackpot has been won on Halloween. Cashing in on a holiday is nothing new for Michigan Lottery players. On Jan. 1, 2024, The Breakfast Club lottery club won an $842.4 million Powerball jackpot.

The Mega Millions jackpot was last won in Michigan in January 2021 by an Oakland County lottery club. The club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot. That jackpot was the largest ever won in Michigan.

Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Mega Millions tickets until 10:45 p.m. tonight. Tickets also can be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.

Mega Millions plays may be purchased for $5 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. Each wager includes a built-in multiplier that multiplies non-jackpot prizes up to 10 times to a maximum of $10 million. Wayne County Man Wins $250,000 KENO! Prize from the Michigan Lottery

Winning TicketA Wayne County man said winning a $250,000 KENO! prize from the Michigan Lottery feels surreal!

The lucky 60-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched 10 of the 22 numbers drawn Oct. 10 to win the game’s $250,000 top prize. His winning numbers were: 01-08-11-15-16-22-45-47-66-74. He bought his winning ticket at Conant-Caniff Market, located at 11303 Conant Street in Hamtramck.

“My wife and I have been playing KENO! for quite a while and we always play the same set of numbers,’” said the winner. “I gave the ticket to my wife, and she checked it the next day by looking at the numbers on MichiganLottery.com. When she realized we had won $250,000 she checked the numbers three more times and then took the ticket to the store to scan it and make sure it was real. We are ecstatic! Winning a prize like this feels surreal.”

The player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a home and then save the remainder.

KENO! tickets may be purchased for $1. Players select 10 numbers from one to 80 for a chance to win prizes ranging from a free instant ticket up to $250,000. Drawings for the game take place at 7:30 p.m. seven days a week.

Osceola County Educator Wins Excellence in Education Award from the Michigan Lottery

An Osceola County educator who is known for her dedication to students and innovative teaching methods has been honored with an Excellence In Education award from the Michigan Lottery.

The award winner, Liz Younglove, is a K-5 Literacy Coach at Pine River Area Elementary. The school is part of Pine River Area Schools.

The Michigan Lottery established the Excellence In Education awards in 2014 to recognize outstanding public-school educators across the state during the school year.

Winners of the weekly award receive a $2,000 cash prize. At the end of the school year, one of the weekly award winners will be selected to receive the Lottery’s Educator of the Year award and will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

Each winner also is featured in a news segment on the Lottery’s media partner stations: WXYZ-TV in Detroit, FOX 17 in Grand Rapids, FOX 47 in Lansing, WLUC in Marquette, WNEM-TV in Saginaw, and WWTV-TV in Traverse City. The news segment featuring Younglove will air this evening.

“Ms. Younglove’s commitment to fostering learning in her students with an innovative and compassionate approach makes her an ideal candidate for the Excellence in Education award,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Her calming presence and hands-on activities create unforgettable learning experiences for her students.”

Younglove said she always wanted to work with children, but volunteer work steered her to a career in education.

“I come from a family of people that all work with children and when I graduated high school, I knew I wanted to work with children in some way. My dad and brothers all worked in kids’ ministry and my mom and sisters all worked in public education, but I wasn’t sure what that would look like for me. After volunteering for different organizations like Special Olympics in college I decided to follow my mom and sisters and get an education degree.”

Younglove was nominated for the award by her principal.

“Liz Younglove is an outstanding educator who exemplifies excellence in education through her unwavering dedication to her students and her innovative teaching methods. She is deeply motivated to support all her young learners, ensuring that each child feels valued, engaged, and inspired in the classroom. Her passion for education is evident in her daily interactions with students and colleagues alike. Liz demonstrates exceptional compassion and patience with struggling students. She approaches challenges with grace and determination, always looking for new ways to connect with her students and help them succeed. Her ability to adapt to the diverse needs of her classroom ensures that every child feels supported and encouraged, regardless of their individual learning styles or struggles. Liz consistently goes above and beyond her duties as a teacher. She is a leader among her colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. Her enthusiasm and commitment to education inspire those around her, making her team stronger every day. Younglove earned a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University. She has been an educator for six years and started a new role this school year.

West Bloomfield Lottery Club Wins $2 Million Powerball Prize from the Michigan Lottery

Winning TicketThe members of the FDL lottery club said winning a $2 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery is “comforting and unbelievable.”

“The club purchased several Powerball tickets because the jackpot was over $1 billion,” said the club’s representative and spokesperson, Sheldon Larky. “They were checking their tickets after the drawing and didn’t believe it when they realized one was a $2 million winner! They scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app to double check it and make sure it was real.

“The club members said winning a $2 million prize is comforting and unbelievable.”

“Congratulations to the FDL lottery club that won a $2 million prize during the huge Powerball jackpot run last month,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Jackpot runs are not only fun and exciting for players, but they also drive sales which helps the Lottery increase its contribution to the School Aid Fund.”

The lottery club matched the five white balls – 03-16-29-61-69 – in the Sept. 3 drawing to win a $1 million prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $2 million. They bought the winning ticket at Sunkiss Market, located at 13535 Puritan Street in Detroit.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
