New Colossal Cashword Instant Game Gives Michigan Lottery Players a Chance to Win Colossal Prizes

Michigan Lottery players will have a new chance to win millions with the new Colossal Cashword instant game.

Launching Sept. 5, each $30 Colossal Cashword instant game ticket will offer players a chance to win prizes ranging from $30 up to $2 million. All told, the game will give players the chance to win more than $104 million in prizes.

First launched in July 2001, Cashword-themed tickets are some of the Lottery’s most popular instant games. Cashword games feature crossword puzzles and players win prizes based on the number of complete words they uncover. Colossal Cashword marks the first time that the Lottery has offered the game on a $30 ticket. Cashword games range in price from $2 up to $30.

The Lottery also is debuting a new second chance opportunity with the Colossal Cashword instant game. Players will be able to scan non-winning tickets with the Lottery’s mobile app for a second chance to win. Each non-winning ticket will award players six free games of the online Caribbean Cashword game where they can win $.50 up to $15,000, and either a coupon for free play at retail or entries into a weekly drawing for $300 in instant game tickets.

Lottery instant games, including the new Colossal Cashword game, may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.

In 2022, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.

Michigan Lottery Offices Closed in Observance of Labor Day

Labor Day graphicIn observance of Labor Day, the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing and all Lottery regional offices located in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Livonia, Saginaw, and Sterling Heights will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4.

All regularly scheduled drawings will take place on Monday.

The bank claim centers that the Michigan Lottery has teamed up with may have office hours on Monday, however, they won’t be able to process claims, because the Lottery offices will be closed.

All Lottery offices will reopen on Tuesday at 7:45 am.

Detroit Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Bingo Blockbuster Instant Game

A Detroit man is looking forward to a vacation and a “big bowl of fruit” after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Bingo Blockbuster game.

Jamaar Fields, 45, bought his winning ticket at Fenkell Express, located at 19850 Fenkell Street in Detroit.

“I don’t usually play Bingo games, so when I scratched the ticket off and I just couldn’t understand what I was seeing,” said Fields. “I took the ticket up to the store and they scanned it and told me to call the Lottery. That’s when I knew I had won a good size prize.

“I called my niece, and she came over to look at the ticket. When she told me how much I had won, I couldn’t believe my ears. Having $300,000 all at once is a very surreal feeling. I’m a very humble person, so sitting here to claim this much money is unbelievable to me.”

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to invest in his business and then take a vacation.

“Once everything settles down, I’m taking a vacation to sit on the beach and eat a big bowl of fruit,” Fields said.

Players have won more than $20.5 million playing Bingo Blockbuster which launched in June 2022. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $5 million in prizes remain, including one $10,000 prize, six $2,000 prizes, and 16 $1,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.

Otsego County Man Wins $105,000 Fantasy 5 Jackpot from the Michigan Lottery

An Otsego County man topped off the luckiest day of his life by winning a $105,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.

Greg Osantowski, of Gaylord, matched the winning Fantasy 5 numbers on Aug. 8 – 03-10-28-35-39 – to win the big prize. He bought his winning ticket at Upper Lakes Tire, located at 1260 West Main Street in Gaylord.

“I was feeling pretty lucky after winning $250 playing instant games, so when I went to cash those in, I bought a Fantasy 5 ticket,” said Osantowski. “The next morning, I sat down to check my tickets and like I always do, I covered the winning numbers and then revealed them one-by-one.

“After I matched three, I was pretty happy. Then, I matched the fourth and thought: ‘Wow! I really have a shot to win this thing!’ I slowly uncovered the fifth number and when I saw the three, my heart started jumping. When I saw I had matched the number 39, I about fell off the couch!”

Osantowksi, 60, recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. With his winnings he plans to build a pole barn and then save the remainder.

“Winning is a real gift. We’d been trying to figure out how to pay for a new pole barn and then I won this prize. It really was the luckiest day of my life!” Osantowski said.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.

Macomb County Man Wins $573,617 BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot Prize

A Macomb County man has won the BIG CA$H Second Chance jackpot for the second time this year, winning the game’s $573,617 prize in July. In February, the player won $261,935 in the BIG CA$H Second Chance drawing.

The player, who chose to remain anonymous, won $573,617 after he was selected in a random drawing that took place Aug. 9. He earned entries into the giveaway by playing the eligible BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot games online at MichiganLottery.com. “I play the BIG CA$H games online because I like the chance to win the progressive prize,” said the 62-year-old player. “When I won earlier this year it was a huge surprise but it was an even bigger surprise that I won a second time!

“I never expected to win and winning twice has been such a blessing. Being able to invest this money for my retirement means I can retire sooner than I was planning to and spend time with my family.”
