Kent County Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Fire & Ice Cashword Instant Game

Winning TicketA Kent County man “locked his truck doors and drove straight home” when he scratched off a Fire & Ice Cashword ticket and won $300,000 from the Michigan Lottery.

The lucky 47-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Family Fare Quick Stop, located at 2755 Lake Michigan Drive in Grand Rapids.

“I typically play the $2 Cashword game but decided to try the Fire & Ice Cashword game instead,” said the player. “I scratched the ticket when I got in my truck. When I revealed the sixth red word, I checked the ticket over at least 10 times before taking it back into the store and scanning it. When the ‘file a claim’ message came up on the Lottery machine, I walked back to my truck, locked the doors, and drove straight home to put the ticket in a safe spot.

“I’ve always dreamed about what I would do if I won a large Lottery prize, so it feels like a dream that it happened! I’m still having a hard time believing it’s real.”

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his home and invest.

Players have won more than $6 million playing Fire & Ice Cashword which launched in August. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $27 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 prizes, nine $10,000 prizes, and 58 $2,000 prizes.
