Muskegon man wins big

LANSING, June 21 , 2006 – Ed Japenga is a very lucky winner!  He claimed a $10,006 prize after winning big on the Michigan Lottery’s Club Keno game.

Japenga wagered $1 per draw and matched nine of ten numbers, which usually pays $5,000, but since he purchased the Kicker option, it multiplied his winnings to $10,000!

The lucky winner purchased the ticket at Pin Crest Lanes, 6571 Airline Rd., in Fruitport.

Immediately before each Club Keno drawing, a wheel spins on the Club Keno monitor selects a Kicker number of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10.  Players can select the Kicker box on their play slip and pay $1 for each dollar originally wagered.  Wins on regular Club Keno drawings will be multiplied by the Kicker number, allowing players the chance to win up to 10 times their original prize amount.

Kicker began on November 20, 2005 in all 2,000 locations selling Club Keno.

Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win.  Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time.  Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn.  The more numbers matched, the more the player wins.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.

Player City Hall of Fame inducts first members

Internet club celebrates anniversary

LANSING, June 19, 2006 – The Michigan Lottery has inducted 100 loyal Lottery players into its Player City Hall of Fame.  Inductees into the Hall of Fame earned the honor by accumulating the most “Player City Points” during the past year through Player City, the Lottery’s Internet-based VIP club.

When we first discussed the viability of an interactive website for our players over a year ago, we had no idea it would be the overwhelming success that it now is,” Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters said.  “We have Player City “residents” from all over the state who are enjoying exclusive member benefits and contests that a year ago weren’t available.”

The Player City website, found at www.playercity.net, was launched in June, 2005.  Player City members earn points for various on-site activities and then “redeem” their points later for members-only contests.  Additionally, points accumulated put residents in the running for Hall of Fame honors.  The Hall showcases Player City’s point leaders and provides a chance for residents to see how their point totals match up against all residents.  Point totals are updated every 5 minutes.

Additionally, Michigan Lottery players now have their own place on the web to brag about their luckiest experience with the Michigan Lottery.  The “Lucky Me!” section of the Player City website allows members to contribute their personal story for all members to see, and earn 2,000 Player City points in the process.

For example, member Linda W. writes, “I received a coupon from Player City that when you purchase a $10 instant ticket, you receive a $5.00 instant ticket “FREE”.  So, I lost on my $5 instant ticket but I won $200 on the $10 instant ticket.  I was so happy I told my husband that he should become a member too!”

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
