A Clinton County woman had a champagne celebration with her family after winning $6 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game!
“I play lottery here and there because I like the thrill and it’s just fun, but I never expect to win big,” said the lucky 63-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I traded in some winning tickets for a Millionaire Maker ticket and scratched the ticket later that night.
“I uncovered the money bag symbol but scratched off the rest of the ticket before uncovering the winning amount. When I finally scratched it and saw ‘$6MIL’ I went into shock. I frantically called my daughter, and she thought she was going to have a heart attack after I told her I’d just won $6 million! I called my husband next and told him I had a big surprise for him when he got home. Shortly after, my daughter showed up with a bottle of champagne to celebrate and then my husband arrived and I got to tell him that we’re millionaires! We spent the rest of the night celebrating the big win.”
The player bought her winning ticket at Exit 76 – Westphalia, located at 305 South Westphalia Street in Westphalia. Westphalia is about 25 miles northwest of Lansing. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With her winnings, she plans to start college funds for her grandchildren and donate.
“I don’t plan to change my life much, but I will use the money to change lives,” said the player. “I want to use my winnings as a bonus to help others.”
Players have won more than $60 million playing Millionaire Maker, which launched in September 2025. Each $50 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $50 up to $6 million. More than $251 million in prizes remain, including one $6 million top prize, 12 $1 million prizes, and 52 $10,000 prizes.
In 2024, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
