A text from his son tipped off a Cheboygan man that he had won a $1 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery!
Bryan Spray, 65, matched the five white balls in the Dec. 13 drawing to win the big prize: 01-28-31-57-58. He bought his winning ticket at Court Street Party Market, located at 1101 Court Street in Cheboygan.
“I have been playing Powerball for a long time, and I always buy my tickets at Court Street Party Market,” said Spray. “I bought a few Powerball tickets before heading out of town, but I forgot to check them after the drawing.
“The next day, I got a text from my son asking if I got lucky because there was a $1 million winning Powerball ticket sold in Cheboygan. I checked my ticket and to my surprise, I was the big winner! It was surreal. I still can’t believe it.”
Spray recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to retire and invest.
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.
The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
