A Macomb County man won a record-breaking $32.91 million Lotto 47 jackpot when the numbers he’s played for 20 years were drawn on Dec. 13, 2025!

The lucky 73-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn – 02-03-12-15-16-33 – in the Dec. 13 drawing to win the game’s record-breaking $32.91 million jackpot. He bought the winning ticket at Wild Bills Tobacco, located at 46518 Gratiot Avenue in Chesterfield. Chesterfield is about 35 miles north of Detroit.

“I have been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years and I’ve always played the same sets of numbers,” said the player. “When I checked my ticket, I saw right away I matched three numbers and thought: ‘At least I got $5 back.’ When I saw I matched the rest of the numbers, I rubbed my eyes and checked my ticket again because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!

“I called my kids and told them, but they didn’t believe me and had to come see the ticket for themselves. We were so excited! You never expect to win a prize like this, so it still hasn’t fully sunk in.”

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $22.8 million, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new pair of shoes, a new car, and share with his family.

“Honestly, the first thing on my list is just treating myself to a new pair of shoes,” said the player, laughing. “I also plan to share some of my winnings with my family and get a new car.”

The huge $32.91 million jackpot is largest Lotto 47 jackpot ever won. The previous record was set in November 2020, when two lucky players split a $32.3 million jackpot. Those winning tickets were bought in Ferndale and Lake Odessa, respectively.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
