A Hillsdale County man couldn’t contain himself when he found out he won the $6 million top prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Super Raffle game!
The 69-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won the big prize when his Super Raffle number – 130129 – was selected as a $6 million winner in the drawing on Nov. 19. He bought his winning ticket at B&T Party Store, located at 12823 East Chicago Road in Somerset Center. Somerset Center is about 20 miles south of Jackson.
“I really liked the odds of the Super Raffle game, so I bought a ticket here and there,” said the player. “I checked my raffle number on MichiganLottery.com the day of the drawing and couldn’t contain myself when I found out I’d won the $6 million top prize. I called my wife over to the computer to show her the results and I think she stopped breathing for a minute when she found out how much we won!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. He plans to share his winnings with his kids and then save the remainder.
Super Raffle featured the richest payout of any raffle game offered by the Lottery. It offered a top prize of $6 million and two $1 million prizes. Other prizes were: $100,000 (12), $500 (3,500), and $100 (15,000).
