A Newaygo County man stopped and bought a Super Raffle ticket at what may be the luckiest spot in Michigan to play lottery and won a $1 million prize!

The 29-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won the big prize when his Super Raffle number – 049686 – was selected as a $1 million winner in the drawing on Nov. 19. He bought his winning ticket at Party World, located at 5568 Alpine Avenue Northwest in Comstock Park.

“I’d heard about the Michigan Lottery’s Super Raffle game and was pretty excited about it because of the odds,” said the player. “I was telling everyone I know about the game and that they should buy a ticket because it had the best odds ever to win $6 million and many other prizes.

“I drove by Party World, which advertises as the luckiest store in Michigan, so I stopped in to buy a Super Raffle ticket. The day of the drawing, I got a call from my wife and thought something bad had happened because she was in tears, until she said: ‘You won $1 million on your Super Raffle ticket!’ I didn’t believe her, so she sent me a picture of the ticket, and I checked it myself.

“When I saw I really did win $1 million, my heart started pounding! It was pretty surreal. I hope to turn this prize into generational wealth by investing the majority of the money.”

“This lucky player was interested in the Super Raffle game because of the odds, and the odds were in his favor after he won a $1 million prize,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “I also want to congratulate Party World, a Comstock Park retailer known as a lottery lucky spot, for selling the winning ticket and for continuing their 10+ year streak of selling huge lottery prizes.”

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. He plans to invest his winnings.

While it’s impossible to predict when a retailer may sell a big winner, Party World has been an exceptionally lucky retailer for Michigan Lottery players. In 2008, the store sold a $57 million winning Mega Millions ticket and since then, their lucky streak has continued, selling 14 prizes of $10,000 or more, including four prizes of $100,000 or more.

Super Raffle featured the richest payout of any raffle game offered by the Lottery. It offered a top prize of $6 million and two $1 million prizes. Other prizes were: $100,000 (12), $500 (3,500), and $100 (15,000).
