A Wayne County man’s routine stop for coffee and an instant ticket paid off in a big way when he won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Make It Rein instant game!
The lucky 56-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Speedway gas station, located at 37416 7 Mile Road in Livonia.
“I stopped at the gas station to get coffee and an instant ticket like I have done every day for the past eight years,” said the player. “I scratched the ticket when I got back to my car, and thought I’d won $30,000. I spent the next half hour looking the ticket over, until I finally went into the store to double check it.
“After the clerk scanned it, he handed it back and told me I didn’t scratch off all the zeros. That’s when I realized I’d actually won $300,000. I couldn’t believe it!”
The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new car, put some in his children’s college funds, and then invest the remainder.
Players have won more than $4 million playing the Make It Rein instant game, which launched in October. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $16 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prize and seven $2,000 prizes.
In 2023, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
