Tuscola County Woman Wins $500,000 Playing Michigan Lottery’s Luxury Cashword Instant Game

Winning TicketA Tuscola County woman thought she’d won $1,000 until she looked her Luxury Cashword ticket over again the next day and realized she had really won $500,000!

The lucky 68-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket at Ben’s Fresh Market, located at 6233 Church Street in Cass City. Cass City is about 40 miles east of Bay City.

“I have been playing Cashword games for years, and Luxury Cashword is one of my favorites,” said the player. “I finished scratching the ticket and thought I revealed nine words for a $1,000 prize. I showed my husband and he said: ‘If only you had one more word, you would have won $500,000!’

“The next day I looked the ticket over again, and that’s when I found the tenth word. I showed my husband, and we were both in shock! I got in my car and drove straight to the Lottery office to have them look the ticket over and confirm my win.”

The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills, invest, purchase new furniture, and then save the remainder.

“Winning is such a relief and honestly, I’m still having a hard time believing this is real!” said the player.

Players have won more than $34 million playing Luxury Cashword, which launched in March 2023. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000. More than $26 million in prizes remain, including one $500,000 top prize and 25 $1,000 prizes.

In 2023, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
