An Oakland County man has his eye on a new house with a pool after winning a $1 million prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s $1,000,000 Cash Multiplier instant game.
The 59-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Meijer store, located at 1703 Haggerty Road in Commerce Township.
“I bought four tickets and won $100, so I used some of my winnings to purchase more tickets, including this $1,000,000 Cash Multiplier ticket,” the player said. “I scratched off only the barcode, and then scanned it on the Michigan Lottery app. When confetti came up on the screen with a prize of $1 million, I thought the scanner was broken. I scratched off the full ticket and that’s when I saw I really did win. It was awesome!”
The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to buy a retirement home with a pool and sponsor a child overseas.
Players have won more than $9 million playing $1,000,000 Cash Multiplier, which launched in January. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $52 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes and 143 $5,000 prizes.
In 2022, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.
