“My family’s Easter party happened to be on my birthday this year, so at the party, my sister gave me a lottery ticket as a birthday gift,” said the 66-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “On my way home, I stopped at the store, scratched the barcode, and scanned the ticket. I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I scratched the ticket when I got home to see what I’d won.
“I was so shocked and excited when I saw the $500,000 win! I called my sister to tell her the news, and she was just as excited as I was.”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Kroger store, located at 435 North Main Street in Frankenmuth. The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He plans to save his winnings for retirement.
Players have won more than $5 million playing the Money Rush instant game, which launched in March. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $23 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 prizes and 26 $1,000 prizes.
In 2025, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
