“I recently moved to Michigan for work and have been staying with my aunt and uncle,” said Miller. “In December, when the Powerball jackpot was getting huge, my aunt left a note out suggesting we buy a ticket, so I grabbed one on my way to work.
“I work nights, so the night of the drawing I was awake and checked the ticket around 3 a.m. As I was looking the ticket over and realizing what we had won, I went numb. I checked the ticket a few more times and just sat and waited for my aunt and uncle to wake up not believing what had happened was real.”
Miller and his uncle plan to save their winnings.
“Winning is an unbelievable feeling,” said Miller. “It’s really hard to explain, but the best way I can put it is it’s like having the best dream you’ve ever had and waiting to wake up to see if it’s real.”
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.
