“I buy a few Cashword tickets a week because I like them and think they’re fun,” said the 46-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “When I scratched the ticket and saw I won $300,000, I had to double, triple, and quadruple check it. When I was sure of what I was seeing, I had my wife look over it too. She also counted 10 words, so then we called the Lottery to verify the big win!”
The player bought his winning ticket at the Broadway Shell, located at 469 Broadway Street in South Haven. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He plans to save his winnings.
Players have won more than $31 million playing the Safe Cracker Cashword instant game, which launched in December 2024. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $4 million in prizes remain, including 23 $1,000 prizes.
In 2024, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
