Making Millionaires: 33 Michigan Lottery Players Win Millions in 2019

New homes, new cars, luxury vacations, and financial security top the wish lists of Michigan Lottery players. In 2019, the Lottery helped make those dreams come true for countless players who collected more than $2 billion in prizes.

All told, the Lottery made 33 players millionaires in 2019, with an $80 million Powerball jackpot won by Phillip Chippewa, of Suttons Bay, topping the list of big winners. The top prizes for 2019 accounted for more than $155.3 million in winnings for players.

The top-three prizes Michigan Lottery players won in 2019 (through Dec. 20) were:

• $80 million Powerball jackpot, won by Phillip Chippewa, of Suttons Bay, on Sept. 21
• $17.01 million Lotto 47 jackpot, won by an Ogemaw County man, on Aug. 24
• $5 million Lotto 47 jackpot, won by a Grand Rapids woman, on Nov. 20
