The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at the BP gas station, located at 29450 Sibley Road in Romulus.
“I bought a couple of tickets on my way home from work and scratched them as soon as I got in the door,” said the winner. “When I saw I had a $1 million winner, I couldn’t contain my excitement!
“I was home alone and started going crazy. That’s when my dogs started getting excited too. I was finally able to settle down and call the Lottery office to confirm I had a big winner in my hands.”
The player visited Lottery headquarters today to claim his big prize. He chose to receive his prizes as one-time lump sum payment of about $635,000 rather than an annuity.
With his winnings, the player plans to save for his retirement.
“Winning is for sure exciting, but I don’t get excited about trips or a new house or anything like that,” said the player. “I’m most excited to know that when I’m done with work, I’ll be comfortable and I can get all the toys I want then.”
