A Good Year: Lottery Players Collect Huge Prizes in 2014

Many Michigan Lottery players dream about how their lives would change if they won a huge jackpot. That’s part of the fun and excitement that comes with playing Lottery games. Some lucky players saw their dreams come true in 2014, after snagging big Lottery prizes.

All told, players won nearly $1.6 billion playing Lottery games in 2014. With a $66 million Mega Millions jackpot topping the list of big winners, the top 10 prizes Michigan Lottery won in 2014 (through Dec. 16) were:

1. $66 million Mega Millions jackpot won by Kelsey Zachow, of Port Huron, on June 13
2. $6 million Lotto 47 jackpot won by an Oakland County woman on Sept. 27
3. $5.5 million Lotto 47 jackpot won by an Oakland County lottery club on March 19
4. $4.4 million Cash for Life top prize won by an Allegan County woman on Feb. 19
4. $4.4 million Cash for Life top prize won by John Mikula, of Macomb County, on June 24
6. $3.3 million Lotto 47 jackpot won by Jeff LeBar, of Manistique, on May 21
7. $2.2 million Cash for Life top prize won by a Livingston County man on March 17
7. $2.2 million Cash for Life top prize won by a Wayne County man on June 16
7. $2.2 million Cash for Life top prize won by a Wayne County woman on Nov. 17
10. $2.05 million Lotto 47 jackpot won by a Kalkaska County woman on Nov. 8

The top 10 prizes for 2014 account for nearly $100 million in winnings for players. In addition to these winners, 15 other Lottery players won prizes of $1 million or more during 2014.
