A Redford woman is glad she remembered to play Powerball after winning a $100,000 Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.
Debra Knox, 61, matched the four white balls and the Powerball – 19-29-34-44-50 PB: 25 – in the June 16 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Powerplay, the prize was multiplied to $100,000. She bought her winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
“Usually I forget to play,” said Knox. “I had an inkling for a while that I should buy a ticket, so I got online and bought a few.
“I’ve played online before and won $1 here and there. When I logged in to my account after the Powerball drawing, I saw $100,000 and had to look a couple of times! All I could think was: ‘That’s not $1!’”
Knox visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder.
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
