Emmet County Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Double Bonus Cashword Instant Game

An Emmet County man is looking forward to some much needed financial relief after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Double Bonus Cashword instant game.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at Tom and Dick’s, located at 921 Emmet Street in Petoskey.

“I stopped was going to buy one Double Bonus Cashword ticket, but the clerk said there were only two left and asked if I wanted them both,” said the 40-year-old player. “When I scratched the ticket off, it was unbelievable. I can’t even believe I’m sitting here right now.”

The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim the big prize. With his winnings he plans to set up college funds for his daughters and then save the remainder.

“I’ve had some medical issues recently and haven’t been able to work. Winning this is awesome and takes so much stress off of my shoulders,” the player said.

Players have won more than $13 million playing Double Bonus Cashword, which launched in August 2017. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $13 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prize, six $10,000 prizes and 26 $2,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
