Wayne County Lottery Club Wins $1 Million Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Triple Million Instant Game

Two lucky Michigan Lottery players from Wayne County had to show several people their winning Triple Millions instant game ticket to confirm they’d won $1 million.

The lucky players, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at One Stop Liquor, located at 33439 Ford Road in Garden City.

“We started playing the Lottery together years ago and decided to form the Rags to Riches Lottery Club,” said the club’s representative. “We buy tickets when were together and always share the winnings, but I don’t think we ever expected to win this much.

“I started scratching the ticket and immediately saw the ‘Cash’ symbol, so I knew I’d won. I finished scratching the numbers off on the ticket and then I scratched the prize area off. It was so unreal to see the ‘1MIL’ symbol.”

The two members of the Rags to Riches Lottery Club visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim their big prize. They chose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum of about $634,000 rather than an annuity. Each player received about $317,000 before income tax withholdings.

The winners are considering a trip to Las Vegas to test their luck before saving the remainder of their prizes.

“It’s great to know that real people win the Lottery. It feel absolutely wonderful,” the club representative said.

Players have won more than $21 million playing Triple Million, which launched in April. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $27 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, 11 $10,000 prizes, and 87 $1,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2016, Lottery players won nearly $817 million playing instant games.
