Genesee County Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Wild Time Riches Instant Game

A Genesee County man felt “bewildered” after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Wild Time Riches instant game.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at Jimmy’s Short Stop, located at 1104 South Elms Road in Flint.

“I was home alone when I scratched the ticket off, and I just couldn’t believe my eyes,” said the 70-year-old player. “When my wife got home, I had her take a look at the ticket and she just keep asking: ‘Are you joking?’

“After we got settled down, I took the ticket to the bank and put it in my safety deposit box.”

The player visited Lottery headquarters Friday to claim his big prize. With his winnings he plans to set up a college fund for his grandson, set some aside for a 50th anniversary trip, and share the remainder with his family.

“I feel so blessed to have won such a big prize,” the player said.

Players have won more than $12.5 million playing Wild Time Riches, which launched in March. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $13.7 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes and 30 $2,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2016, Lottery players won nearly $817 million playing instant games.
