Annie Toyer bought her winning ticket while visiting her mother in Detroit. Her Easy Pick ticket matched the five Mega Millions white balls drawn on Oct. 2 – 04-14-29-31-47 – to win $1 million. She bought her winning ticket at the Gratiot Fairmont Market, located at 14999 Gratiot Avenue in Detroit.

“I bought the ticket while I was in Detroit caring for my mother,” explained Toyer. “When I got back to Ohio, I put the ticket on my dresser and forgot about it.”

It wasn’t until Toyer made another trip to Detroit and stopped at the Gratiot Fairmont Market that she remembered she hadn’t checked to see if her ticket was a winner.

“I was buying another Lottery ticket at the Gratiot Fairmont Market, and I saw a sign that said the store had sold a $1 million Mega Millions winner,” said Toyer. “As soon as I got home, I checked my ticket. When I saw I had a huge win, I called my husband. He said: ‘I’m married to a millionaire!’”

Toyer visited Lottery headquarters on Monday with her husband to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to complete some home repairs, buy a new car, and save the remainder.

Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.
