On a Roll: Powerball Jackpot Reaches $261 Million for Wednesday’s Drawing

Michigan Lottery PowerballMichigan Lottery players looking to kick the winter blues are eagerly anticipating Wednesday’s Powerball drawing and a chance to win $261 million.

Wednesday’s $261 million jackpot is the second-largest Powerball jackpot in the past 12 months. In February 2014, a California man won a $425.3 million jackpot. The cash option for Wednesday’s jackpot is about $179 million.

Powerball was a lucrative game for Michigan Lottery players in 2014. Four players won the game’s $1 million prize, including three winners in a four-day span in February.

If a Michigan player win’s Wednesday’s $261 million jackpot, it would be the second-largest Powerball prize won in the state. On Aug. 15, 2012, Donald Lawson, of Lapeer, won a $337 million Powerball jackpot. Lawson’s jackpot holds the record for the largest Lottery prize ever won in Michigan.

Players still have plenty of time to purchase tickets for Wednesday’s drawing. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets until 9:45 p.m.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to five times may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
