LANSING, November 14, 2011 – Amanda Gonzales-Osborne was shocked to learn that she had won the Michigan Lottery’s Fantasy 5 game to the tune of $287,120.
When her husband Michael found out the size of the jackpot, he encouraged her to verify her numbers, thinking, “Maybe we won.” Sure enough when Amanda checked the winning numbers on her phone using the Michigan Lottery phone app, she discovered she was a winner. “I couldn’t stop screaming,” she said with a laugh.
Previously, Gonzales-Osborne had won about $200 in total Lottery winnings. She will use her newfound wealth to pay off bills.
The winning ticket, which was for the November 13 drawing, was purchased at C & A Fuel Stop, 3300 Greenfield Rd. in Dearborn.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $717 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
