LANSING, October 26, 2011 – Clarke Ferris and a eight co-workers claimed a Powerball prize together.
Ferris and the members of the Lottery club won $200,000 after purchasing the ticket for the October 11th drawing. When asked about any special plans for the money, a few members of the group will be making new investments, a few will donate some to a charity, and all of the club members agreed on saving some as well.
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven 156B, 8570 Homestead St. in Zeeland.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers.
In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $717 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
