LANSING, January 12, 2011 – Saginaw is a very lucky place to be this week! Two big prizes were claimed this week on tickets purchased in Saginaw.
On Tuesday, an anonymous winner won $140,000 on a Red Hot Valentine instant ticket. The anonymous winner said she planned to help her family as much as she could. The ticket was bought at Trogans Party Store, 2328 S. Michigan Ave., in Saginaw.
Ken Taylor of Saginaw traveled to Lansing today to claim at $250,000 prize on a Mega Millions ticket from the November 26, 2010 drawing. Taylor, who frequently plays the Mega Millions, wants to remodel his home with some of his prize winnings.
Taylor’s winning easy-pick ticket was sold at Meijer Gas Station, 3360 Tittabawassee Rd., in Saginaw.
Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $701.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
