LANSING, December 10, 2010 – Starting Sunday, Michigan Lottery players could see their Mega Millions non-jackpot winnings “Megaplied” up to $1,000,000!
For an additional $1 per play, players can select the Megaplier feature which increases their winnings on non-jackpot prizes up to 4 times the original amount. A Megaplier number of 2, 3 or 4 will be drawn before each Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday and Friday nights.
For example, if a player who has purchased the Megaplier option matches the gold Mega Ball number, normally a $2 winner, and the Megaplier number comes up as 4, the prize would be $8. And players who select the Megaplier and match all five white ball numbers automatically win $1 million cash, regardless of the Megaplier number selected!
Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing will be the first in which the Megaplier will be featured. Lottery players can purchase Mega Millions tickets at any of the nearly 11,000 retailers across the state of Michigan.
Following the Tuesday and Friday drawings, Mega Millions winning numbers are posted on the Lottery’s Web site, https://www.michiganlottery.com/.
Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $701.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
