Richland Club wins Michigan’s first $1 million Powerball prize!

LANSING, November 5, 2010 – They said they always play the Powerball Powerplay, and it paid off.

L&M Winners LLC  of Richland claimed a $1,000,000 Powerball ticket Thursday in Lansing. This is the largest Powerball prize a Michigan Lottery player has won since the game came to Michigan in January.

L&M matched all five white balls in the October 16 Powerball drawing which would normally be a $200,000 winner, but they selected the Powerplay option and for just $1 extra, they won a huge $1,000,000 cash prize!

Members of the Lottery Club said most of their winnings would be going toward investments for the future.

The winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Bayview Market, 12448 E D Ave., in Richland.

Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was nearly $700 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
