LANSING, October 4, 2010 – The winner of the Ultimate 50/50 Raffle has claimed his prize!
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed his winning ticket worth $1,274,382 at Lottery Central today in Lansing.
The winning ticket was sold at C&A Fuel Stop LLC, 3300 Greenfield Rd., in Dearborn.
The Michigan Lottery was the first lottery in the country to conduct a 50/50 raffle. It operated like a standard 50/50 raffle that players might see at a local sporting or charity event: the jackpot grew with every ticket sold and the lucky winner received half of the take.
Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2009, the contribution to schools was $724.5 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
